Give your Parking Lots a Paint Job

This post will show you a quick and easy way to create parking lot striping for your InfraWorks 360 model using nothing more than lines from an AutoCAD Civil 3D drawing.

The linework data will be exported from AutoCAD Civil 3D to an SHP file and then imported into InfraWorks 360 and configured as coverage areas. Because the lines do not have a width to them we need to account for that within InfraWorks. To do this simply adjust the BUFFER value after you define the data as a coverage area. The Screencast below demonstrates all of the necessary steps. Follow the steps in this video and in 2-minutes or less you’ll be able to add more realism to your model simply by giving your parking lots a little paint job.
